On an excursion to the National Park Hohe Tauern, with 2 local rangers, I realized again how many beautiful flowers out there are actually quite poisonous. The first one the rangers pointed out a local species of Europe’s most deadly plant: Aconitum Tauricum,  Aconite, or wolfsbane. With its beautiful blossoms make it quite popular in gardens, it is one of those flowers which is not suitable as cut flowers in vases, because of its extreme toxicity. Touching the plant can lead from rashes and tingling all the way to paralysis. Ingestion is in most cases lethal. But we have so many beautiful flowers that grow in our gardens that are actually quite poisonous. Such as:

Foxglove

foxgloves are very poisonous

Aquilegia

Lilly of the Valley Bleading Heart Hydrangea….
